Transmisson Swap Help

I have a '99 V6 Accord and I'm really sick of the automatic transmission. I would just find another car but I really like mine and another car isn't a good idea financially right now. Is it possible to do a transmission swap on a V6 Accord? If so, how hard would it be do it myself and how expensive would it be?

The 99 V6 engine didn't come with a manual transmission. I think that the 03 accords were the first v6 to come with a MT.

You may be able to search the web to find out if this has been done. I have no clue if an 03 will bolt up to your 99 engine, but my guess is that it will be a major PIA and pretty expensive.

The money you put into the swap may be more than the difference you would pay trading in your car for an 03+ accord with a MT if you want a V6 engine.

Well I'm 90% sure that the 03 and up V6 Accords have the same engine as the 98-02's, so shouldn't a manual work?

There are other things to consider.

The half shafts, location of the tranny mount, an engine computer that will work with your setup, wiring that up properly, clutch pedal, master/slave cylinder.

Some of these things may be simple, but add to the cost quickly. Trading your accord in for an 03 may end up costing less.

Here is a thread talking about the swap you are considering. Just do your homework by doing a lot of google searches. http://answers.google.com/answers/th...id/743859.html
