Urgent Advice Needed - Fuel cut off switch
 

Hi,

I have an Honda Accord late 2003 2.0 VTEC. Was involved in an accident and it seems that the Fuel Cut Off switch has been triggered.

Where can I locate the button to reset this?

I looked through shop manual and found no mention of a fuel cut-off switch.

However, the main fuel relay 2 (MFR) serves this safety function in earlier models. If engine is stopped (accident) w/ keyswitch On, the MFR opens denying power to the fuel pump. This prevents fuel pump from feeding fuel to a potential fire.

If you turn keyswitch to ON, you should hear the MFR click (driver's kick panel) and fuel pump run for 2 secs and cut off. If silence, then either a bad fuse (fuse 7 under-dash), bad relay(Lower row, rear relay on kickpanel), or ECM is denying ground to the MFR preventing it from engaging. It could be that an accident may cause the ECM to prevent running until reset. Resetting will likely require a scanner.

It may be your main battery fuse was blown. This is the large fuse located in the underhood fuse box. If it is blown, it requires a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove and install. This image is from a 2005 Accord owner's manual, check whether yours 2003 is 100A or 80A.

Just to cover all possibilities... Zil, where are you located? Fuel cutoffs like that can be different because of different regulations in different countries.
