What's this that came loose under car?

I've got a 2000 Accord V6. The car has been making a knocking noise, mainly under braking or some bumps. I was thinking it was the mounts, but we found this sticking out below the car. Not sure if this is what is causing the noise. It looks like a strap of some sort, it is on the driver side below the B-Pillar.
Any ideas what this is? Been looking in the Haynes Manual but can't find anything yet. |
What does the "other end" look like or attach to?

Fender support

The B-Pillar and C-Pillar areas of the body are welded.
That does not look like Honda OEM. Honda parts sites and the Honda Accord Body Repair Manual does not show any similar looking part. Have to look underneath to see where it is even attached to. |
Finally got around to looking underneath.
I didn't remove the side cover that mounts along the bottom of the door openings, but I was able to reach my fingers between the cover and the frame. I didn't find anything similar on the passenger side. I started yanking on the strap and found the other end of the strap poke its way out of the cover. I just pulled it out and found this. http://http://www.flickr.com/photos/...7/10125479455/ I thinking its just some road debris that somehow got lodged in that peculiar area. Really strange place for it to get stuck. |
