What's the easiest way to get to the IACV on a 5th gen?
So I wanted to tinker around, and clean up the IACV (idle problems). As we all know, there's barely enough space between the IACV and the firewall to fit anything in there.
After about 10 or 15 minutes, I was finally able to get the top bolt loose, but the bottom one is nigh impossible to get to, and the bolt is on way too tight. I did find the sticky thread in the DIY section, which is very helpful, but it's just the first hump I have to get over, haha. What's the easiest work around this? |
I see a 12mm(or are they 10mm?) wrench and some bloody knuckles in your future.
|
Haha, I snapped two wrenches and have some bruised knuckles. I'm afraid I'll have to take out the entire thing just to get to it.
I'm not the savviest of DIY'ers so I'm a little paranoid :p |
I would suggest a 12mm 6-point boxed-end wrench on there. You do not want to strip the bolt head. It is in a tight spot.

That's what I was mainly worried about. Found a ratchet wrench, so that should do the trick. :) Should I just remove the entire throttle body and give it a good cleaning?
