wheel bearings
i bought my accord not moving.
front driver wheel bearing was shot. lower ball joint was loose. fixed that. than i found a loose pass side upper ball joint. not bad. fixed it today i found a loose pass rear wheel bearing. not terrible but i will change it it sure sounds like the clicks/pops are coming from front so i checked everything and could not find anything bad. sway bar links are good sway bar bushing are ok. can 1 loose rear bearing sound like noises coming from the front? havent changed rear bearing yet but i wonder about these noises |
CV axles are notorious for clicks/pops when worn. Check for looseness in rotation.
good luck |
i did rotate wheel while it was jacked up. the tire rotates left/right about 10deg. i looked under car and axle is turning while i do this. the play is at the transmission case. axle turns, inner cv joint turns, slop is inside trans? is that normal?
|
Some play is expected in trans. Don't know how much. I was referring to play in CV jts.
Try turning a tight circle slowly in parking lot while walking along side front wheels. Popping sounds near wheel are almost certainly CV jts. good luck |
First, check for looseness in rotation.
|
how do you check for play in joints? Hold axle, try and turn wheel? Take out axle and check it? Or look at odometer, 175k miles, and change axles?
|
If axle has play you should be able to turn rotor back/forth w/o shaft movement. Check both inner and outer.
good luck |
Pass sway bar link is worn too. That could explain noises. I probably will change pass lower ball joint too.
