Wheel upgrade causing issues
Hey, I recently ugraded my 2000 honda accord v6-l tires from stock 205/65-15 to 235/45-17 as well as the wheels from 15x6.5 to 17x7 with dt40 offset.
My only issues is slight bottom out on the back 2 wheels when i go over speed bumps, i know the exact point at which the wheel hits the guard. What are my options for dealing with this issue? Sorry if im a little unclear kinda new to this. |
You went 30mm wider on the tires, so maybe(?) what you needed was a larger offset. How about the shop where you bought the wheels? If they said it would fit, you need to question the shop about that.
TireRack has most wheels for that car having larger offset, but they list at least ONE wheel with 40mm offset. But they call for 215/50-R17 as the tire size. |
I bought them second hand off someone i found on gumtree, i was considering getting smaller tires but as it already came with two tires that were 235 i decided to stick with the 235s.

Where does it rub? The outboard shoulder of the tire against the wheel arch? In that case you can't do much other than rolling the fenders.
(Spacers in the rear springs, drive around with the back jacked up like a 60s muscle car until they wear out, then get 215 tires?) If the inboard shoulder rubs against the shock or something like that, you could get spacers. You said it bottoms out against the "guard"... What's that? Something removable? (again, just until they wear down) |
Its bottoming out against the front of the rear fender, as far as i can tell from research my only option is to roll the fender.

Or get narrower tires.
