Here's what happens when timing belt breaks. Although this didn't occur due to a timing belt breakage, it had same effect; crankshaft and camshaft are not in sync and pistons hit the valves. I was lucky (relatively) that pistons were not damaged.

ya i kinda thought so, my mom said she was gonna wait till it breaks then replace it (along with the enginelol) how much should it cost. ive heard its not cheap.

Replacing the belt is way cheaper than buying & installing a new engine...

Between $400 and $800 (it all depends on what part of the country you live in.) Mine cost $450 for the timing belt, water pump, seals, and outer belts. I have been told that was a very good price.
Use genuine Honda parts. Have either a Honda Certified shop (likely cheaper) do the work or a Honda Dealership (more expensive) do the work. Look in the Phone book for Honda certified shops and dealers in your area. Call them all and get price quotes. |
