Why can't Honda

Why can't Honda put an adapter on the I4 block so the oil filter is vertical instead of sideways? Even Chrysler did this on my 2004 3.8L Town and Country. You can fill the oil filter full of oil before you put it on and when the filter is loosened the oil drops straight down into the oil change pan. Changing the filter on my 1999 Accord is always a mess. Just my thoughts. RTV55

Could always do a oil filter relocation, but its a pain and really not worth it.

I thought about that but would be happy if the oil wouldn't flow over the engine block. RTV55

Yeah it does suck, on the J30 V6 it's mounted somewhat vertical and still spills oil all over the place.

I guess that's why they always put "shop charges" on your bill for rags if you have your car serviced at a dealer or shop. Finch13 On another note have you changed your power steering return hoses on your 99? I read about your pressure hose adventure. RTV55

I have not... right now it just tied to the radiator fan until I feel like looping and venting the return and pressue lines together.

Which adventure are we talking about? When the pressure side hose exploded on my 95 or me completely removing power steeing on my 99? :D

The Explosion! I didn't know about totally removing the power steering. Back in my day, we took the A/C off off our cars to give us a little more power. That's before I realized the ladies like things like power and A/C. Ah yes, the power of magazine articles extolling getting all you can out of your engine.

finch13 04-20-2009 08:50 AM

Ah yes, I just left the power steering as it was on the 95 until I totaled it 3 months later. I missed the feeling on the 99 so I set out to completely remove the system, right now it's 75% done. I also removed my A/C system as well, haha. Any chick I date is gonna be one that prefers the windows DOWN when it's warm enough.

I forgot that you live in polar bear country. Down here in St. Louis we know how to sweat in the summer. Take care!

haha no AC has its times where you wish you had it again, but for the most part its fine. Like when I had to make a phone call on the highway one day so rolled up the windows, instantly drenched in sweat.
