Winter tire question
Hi, I have a set of snow tires from a honda accord ex 2005 ( p205/60/16.) My new accord se 2011 has a tire size of (P215/60/16.) Can I use these snow tires on the new accord if I buy plain steel rims matched to the snow tire size of (p205/60/16?) Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Aren't the snow tires already on rims?
Either way, it should work just fine. Outer tread-diameter is smaller than your new tire size, so your speedometer will read a bit high when the snow tires are installed. When you wear them out, then you can get 215/60 or 205/65 snow tires next time around. Either size will probably fit on the same rim. |
They both will fit. :)

Thanks for input, snow tires are not on rims yet. I put the snows on the orig alloys to the 05 accord. Just bought new accord 2011 2 weeks ago. Should I buy 205/60/16 rims or 215/60/16 rims. Plan on keeping car if this helps you answer the question. Thanks

Those numbers are tire sizes, not rim sizes.
215/60-R16 tires are good with rim width 6 to 7.5 inch 205/60-R16 tires are good with rim width 5.5 to 7.5 inch So you want to get rims size 16" x 6.5"width or 7"width. As long as you don't get 5.5"-wide rims, you can put either tire size on them. Steelies will probably be 6.5"-wide while alloy rims will probably be 7" or 7.5" wide. |
