wobble in the steering
 

hey, had a bad set of rotors not to long ago so i changed them along with my calipers, shoes, lower ball joints, wheel bearings and both cv axles. when im goin down the road the wobble gets a little faster, then when i brake it wobbles out of control. checked both break rotors, they're fine. could it be my tires out of balance or would i be wasting my money taking them to get balanced? only other thing hitting me is bent hub, its not a bent rim... im getting close to sending it to the ol' scrapyard lol

-edit- sorry forgot to mention what exact car it was lol, 97 accord lx with the 2.2 SOHC. 5 speed. any and all help is greatly appreciated and if you can pinpoint the real problem, you will become my idol, and ill worship you for a day haha, gettin sick of driving a relatives truck with a 350 in it, gas hog :/

Have you inspected the tie rods (inner and outer) for "play"? Jack the front up, use proper safety.....do the old 3-9 push/pull to see if there is movement, then the same at 12-6.

You could try just rotating the tires (front to rear) and see if that helps....if so go get them balanced.

did the 3 - 9 and the 12 - 6, stiff for the 12 - 6 and for the 3 - 9 there was a little wobble but it was turning the steering wheel as well... just enough to where it locked then you could still hear the stearing wheel clicking in that little 1/2'' back n forth it allowed. rotated the tires and still get the same results... :/ could it possibly be i got a bad new CV Axle? ordered from tasauto... both of them.

Check the radius/strut rod bushings. They are the ones going to the front of the car, under radiator.

thanks poor, my honda is about 50 miles from me at the moment, but will check as soon as possible. just looked at andysautosport and found bushings for it. says 23.11 each but not sure if its for just 1 bushing or 1 set of bushings :/ they are polyurethane. sent them an email asking, who knows how long it will be before i hear back from them, hopefully not too long. trying to get this issue resolved as quick as possible and cheap. thanks again for the heads up. its greatly appreciated and ill check back and let you know how it goes.

Well, don't buy anything yet.....I'm throwing out things that need to be checked....then just me, for a daily driver the "upgrade" bushings are not something I'd do.

I'm still a little concerned with the movement in the 3-9......with the wheels up, turn the steering all the way to the left.....then let the steering lock-remove key...., grab the right/pass side tire and do the "test" again while looking at the outer tie rod. Also look at any movement from the rack.....it also has bushings holding it. Then "flip" and check the left/drivers.

It's better to have someone hold the steering wheel firm when you try that. The steering-wheel lock allows the steering wheel to move a few degrees, and you don't want to confuse that movement with loose balljoints.
