2012 Accord Coupe - Exhaust Questions
 

Alright so i'm a complete retard when it comes to cars and stuff. So basically I have a 2012 Honda Accord coupe 4 cylinder. For Christmas I am looking to buy a new exhaust for my car. Well.. not exactly an exhaust system but I want to replace the muffler.

So my question to present is... if I buy the exhaust could I buy some standard exhaust clamps and clamp it to my car after removing the old exhaust? Or do I HAVE to weld it on? If I welded it on I would need to do it at a shop. How much would that cost?

Basically I'm asking for a quick 101 on what to do and the best way to go about doing that. Don't use any terms that a retard doesen't know what it means :) thanks in advance

Part # 12 is how your OEM muffler looks. You would have to cut the muffler off the pipe. Also, notice the hangers attached to the muffler.

You may or may not need to use an exhaust adapter depending on the diameter of the OEM exhaust pipe (should be 2.25") and the new muffler pipe. You probably can use standard exhaust clamps. You will need to add hanger(s), either welded on or universal type hanger(s) that can be bolted on somewhere. You may be better off having a muffler shop do it, most will weld the exhaust pipe and hangers. Many independent muffler shops will be cheaper then chain shops.

How much do you think it would cost to have a shop do the exhaust and possibly a cold air intake?
