Air intake system

I have a short ram which is only a little bit effective (not noticable)... I'm planning on exhaust headers... obx of course... but I'm wondering will the two work together and give me a lot more horses? Or am I wasting money... Can someone guess how much hp gain I will get having both?

I want to notice power, not noise...

And of course, the other question, fuel consumption between the two, will it actually go down?

Thanks

8-12 for headers

SRI should be around 3-5 after you get the K&N filter or Injen filter or AEM filter, etc.

net HP gain: 11-17 HP.

If you had a 6 cylinder, the gains would be more drastic. Up to 12 HP for intake, etc.

When you say net gain, is that at the wheels?

While we're adding things up, what would a catback add? Or maybe just a higher flowing cat converter? Whats a good price for a converter?
I'm looking at OBX catbackbecause they are less expensive but just as good quality, but how loud is it?Will a higherflowing cat converterbe loud? I don't want the police after me, and I definitely want to be able to hear my radio! I also don't want a lot of noise attention...

Be careful about the "high flow cats" you see. The ones that run around $40 or less are more than likely not catalytic converters at all, they just look like one. The call them "test pipes." Type in "high flow cat" on a search on this forum and you'll see some helpful info about them. Most of the guys out there say if you have a cheaper "high flow cat" i.e. "test pipe" most people riding behind you will know you don't have a cat. If you are in one of the many states whose police officers care about that sort of thing, you will probably get a ticket.

yea i agree with sleeper on what u would be looking at for hp gain. sumtimes the little things are worth it and they look nice under the hood : )

new exhaust muffler itself nets you about 7-10. The whole catback nets you around 15....i think.

But noise is a factor... i hate those guys with their highly modded civics that are loud and obnoxious at all rpm... i don't mind a little noice but i don't want to draw attention and get mad stares...

RE: Air intake system

SRI will be about 1-3hp
Headers will be around 5ish w/ a stock exhaust

The claims on eBay are way to high.

I'm more prone to lean towards 19accord97's guestimates on gain.... I would figure your total gains to be 8-10hp (enough to feel it and notice a difference....)
