Cata Converter. Ceramic Monolith type
hey, im just wondering if this "ceramic monolith" type of cata converter is more like a glass pack, resonator or actual converter...ty for replys
|
It is an actual converter... The ceramic monolith is just a substitute for the metallic substrates... They are usually cheaper, but are more fragile than the metallic cats... "Monolith" is the actual part of the cat that reduces the polution levels, and ceramic is what its made of...

Thanx CKing... KK, was just making sure. went with a damn test pipe in new exhaust and its way to loud for a grown up...lol thank God i bought a cheap one. Gonna go back to a cata. Found the monolith types are less expensive (im a broke old man) so i gotta go w/less expensive, ty for the reply

They are all monolithic type cats... Just the monolith is made up of ceramic instead of metallic... Most high flow cats are ceramic, and oem are usually metallic... Metallics are also worth more money... And if you can find older cats, they can be sold for 150 to 200 dollars to a junk yard, or scrap yard, due to high levels of platinum in them...

Ya i heard those are worth alot to scrap... Wasnt sure if the ceramic monolith was a lesser grade of cata... so your saying alot of catas these days are ceramic ???
|
Alot of aftermarket cats are...Its not a lesser grade, but just not as durable...
