Headers Update

Hey gang, an update here. I'm ditching my OBX Type R headers (crack in weld...) and I just brought DCSports Ceramic Headers.

Will install once I get them! Wish me luck!

RE: Headers Update

Could've just had it rewelded.

RE: Headers Update

Mmmm, perhaps....

Sides, I've heard that ceramic headers give out...I'll switch my OBX back after they do.

RE: Headers Update

If its a ceramic coated header, its gonna rust no matter what. They're made of mild steel. Its cheaper to just have them sand blasted, rewelded, and recoated. All of which you can do for under $50.

RE: Headers Update

Just tell the guys at the shop to do it?

RE: Headers Update

Hmm, I put them on today...no real signficant gains...gonna reset the ECU and see what happens.

SS all the way

RE: Headers Update

I think my car got slower from the DCSports Headers! The TR is sluggish as hell and I think I only gained torque from the headers. Yikes!

RE: Headers Update

Well, good news. My ECU has offically learned that it has AFTERMARKET headers. Performance is back to normal. Though I did empty Prestone 0-60 Octane Boost into the gas tank....which is extemely bad. ><'

On the down side, the car revs really high now....prolly have to take it out for 15 rides before everything gets back to normal. At least, that's what some people are telling me.

RE: Headers Update

What was your process of resetting the ECU?

03Sleeper 06-12-2008 12:33 AM

RE: Headers Update

Disconnect battery for 5 minutes, start the car and let it run idle for 15 minutes. I'm at stage three....15 rides. I'm currently at 6....so I mean each ride the performance gets better. Either that or the mod is wearing on me and I appreciate the upper band power. Who knows.

EDIT- did you remove your OBX headers man? I remeber we used to be hardcore proponents of OBX haha....

I'm defin. enjoying the high end power of the headers...btw.

RE: Headers Update

nice but what would be better to get first cat back or headers

03Sleeper 06-25-2008 08:22 AM

RE: Headers Update

i would get both to save time, lol. headers are like the first part to your exhaust. where the headers end is where the piping begins for the catback, then piping to your muffler, then muffler.

so in theory, it'll be easier to swap out the entire thing in one sitting, i was just too impatient lol. i didnt have to worry too much though since everything is bolt on.
