IAB box

can i take an iab box from a different year accord and hook it up to my f22a1 in my 91 accord lx? if so what will it do and can i use it with an h22/23a intake manifold? g22 wre u @?

you will need a f22a6 or a h23 intake manifold or a combo of both f22a6 runners/h23plentum and you can use a f22a6/h22 plenum also to fit the f22a1 head. As for the IAB box I know for fact the f22a6 and the h23 box work at the right rpm for our engines. As for the f22bx or h22 engines not 100% sure if there is a rpm difference when the butterflies open...

What IAB box are you talking about? Just the vacuum reservoir? It's just a bottle. The ECU controls when the IAB open, the vacuum bottle is just a bottle.

im talking about the black box that has vacuum lines attached to it..

In this example, the vacuum reservoir (#25) is just a bottle. The ECU triggers the solenoid valve (#24) and that's what controls when the IAB butterflys open & close. The bottle does'nt CONTROL anything. You could use any kind of airtight bottle as a vacuum reservoir.

so i can use any from any year honda?

JimBlake 10-15-2010 09:18 PM

Well, not all years/models actually have IAB/secondaries. So some don't have that bottle at all.

good info Jim!
I always deleted my mine so I never knew how they worked...

Hgpaperstacks 10-16-2010 02:06 PM

guys im talkin bout tha black box that has vacuum lines going from the intake pleinum 2 it..

g22cd5 10-17-2010 08:55 AM

same thing we are talking about...but as Jim said there are 2 diff. styles. I have personally deleted all of mine on my h22's and my f22a6's and h23 manifolds. So I have never used them. I know what they do to a point but as said removed mine
