Default new member trying to quicken up my 99 coupe

whats up, i am a new member, looking to make my accord a lil quicker. I have a 99 coupe 2.3L vtec, and I want to make some mods to my car like an intake, exhaust, headers possibly to make it faster, but I dont want to spend that much at all. I dont know that much about cars, more of a 4 wheeler, dirt bike type of person. Right now I just have a sound system. Any ideas on how to give my car a lil giddy up for under a grand?!?

AEM or Injen short ram intake - $120ish
OBX or Greddy headers - $200ish
Exhaust - $ 400-600

AEM and Injen have about the best intakes. Header wise, there are many others that are better quality such as DC Sport and CompTech but cost in the 400 dollar + range. Exhaust....many many choices. People on here seem to favor the Apexi WS2 which I am installing on my 97 Accord tomrrow along with my OBX headers. It cost me $450 fpr the exhaust. OBX also makes some catback exhaust which are around $250 on eBay but dont know how they are. You could always get some Iridium IX plugs and some high performance plug wires. There are many many mods you can do to your car...you just have to decide! Good luck!

Just to clarify....

The part circled in red is the headers right?

Lol man, I was quite off. I'll refrain from posting on the weekends.

When you say you don't want to spend alot of money, do you mean just at the moment or like 1k and your done with modding? If your planning on doing more to your engine I'd definitely start with the i/h/e.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those the intake runners?

yup.... a+ mbo....pretty sure on the new accords that the intake manifold is in front and the header runs out back

no pretty sure about, they are, and if you look beyond that picture it connects to the air filter box right off to the right. there wouldnt be any debates about putting a turbo on those cars if the header was at the front of the car

but that would be one nice looking header if it were actually they header!

So the header would be on the otherside of the motor for clarification.

When I talk about dropping 1K in I mean within the next month or two. Eventually would like to put a turbo or super charger on it. But when I start getting into that stuff, I am wondering why not just buy a nice new ride. I like the Honda, just wish I took better care of it when I was in college.
