Default A New type of filter

A friend showed this to me, so I figured that I'd post it so you guys know that it exists ...... I'm not saying that I'm going to drop $100 on an air filter, but it looks like a very good design.

Huh? I'm assuming that your comment about it's looks is regarding it's use for an SRI. If I did an SRI, it would either have a shield or a ram air kit on it.

Yes. I have an SRI soI didn't thinkk about not being able tosee the filter on the CAI's. That thing would look ridiculous on an SRI though!

You'd think it'd come in different colors, or at least a common/neutral color.. even racing-RED?

Also, to me it'd seem like microfiber materials would slow the air flow?

And what does it mean to be "impervious to water"?
Is it water proof somehow? but still lets air in? or does it just soak it up so well that it doesn't let much water out... does this mean you can dive your car into a river and not get hydrolock (sarcasm, but you get the idea right?)?

no ... what it is are channels in the material that aree only open on one end, so the air has to go from one channel through the filter to the next channel that is open on the other side. It's not microfibre. It's a nano-filter like amsoil's air and oil filters, but the design is stolen from an oil filter. The media would give more static and total pressure, but that is compensated for in it's size. The thing is that you never have to clean it! It has capacity to last 100k miles .... according to them.

Like I said, I'm not spending $100 on an air filter, but I like the concept.

a short time ago i saw a CAI that looked like an intercooler! it had a filter inside the "intercooler" which sucked the air and had the same concept of beeing "waterproof"... can't find it though... i'll get back as soon as i find it...
