Rear muffler necessity
A buddy of mine gave me an Ansa exhaust tip. I love the look even though it is by no means made for this car. The only problem with this tip is it's size, so I was wondering if it would be street legal to delete the rear muffler (as there is still a mid muffler), cut out a portion of the rear muffler (roughly a third of it and weld it back together), or are there and aftermarket mufflers that are shorter in size and would work for my car? I want to stay away from welding as much as possible since I'd be doing this in my garage, and I don't want to have to pay someone to weld it for me. Thanks for any help/advice!

By "mid muffler", do you mean the resonator?

Have you checked with auto parts stores? I'd start there.

There are lots of "universal" mufflers available. You will need to take some measurements of what you need/want - then do a bit of searching.

it's not street legal to run without mufflers. Adding muffler(s) without welding will sound little bit raspy and will rattle lose after time. Won't cost much to just have them welded on. You will also have to have hangers welded on to hold the muffler in place.

I have a buddy that runs his civic with just the factory resonator. It rumbles, and screams at high rpm.

Sounds to me like a splitting headache after only ten miles on the highway; no thanks.
