Resonator Question

So I'm repairing some of my exhaust. The replacement part (Exhaust Pipe & Resonator Assembly) from Walker for my car has bad reviews about being noisy at the flex pipe.

I have an opportunity to buy another replacement part that will fix my problem and is much better deal. Thing is, the resonator is about 10'' shorter than my stock one which is 18'' long. Will this noticeably increase the volume of my exhaust?

Right now the flex pipe is separated from the back of the resonator, so there's really no way it will be louder unless I go with no resonator. The car used to be pretty quiet. Can anyone who has experience doing this speak to how it turned out?

Thanks~

I replaced my stock resonator with an 18" Dynomax. Made it a bit throatier at idle, bit louder at full throttle but still very quiet when just cruising around. Zero drone.

I replaced my resonator with a section of straight pipe, then fabbed some piping for a Walker quiet-flow on the back...which isn't all that quiet really
