this is what my friend said about his on his 5th gen:

"its loud in a "deep" kinda way. Doesnt sound like a fart can or anything but its like this...at part throttle it kinda buzzes a lil bit "like a fart can" but at wide open throttle it just plain sounds mean!!!!!!!!! Got a nice deep racey tone to it.My brother took my car on a fly-by while I watched/listened and like I said.. wide open its like DAMN THAT SOUNDS SWEET!! but slowely taking off its kinda choppy."
