I own a 1997 4dr. Accord. I am a professional mechanic, I have not needed to work on them before. I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with. I have the 2.7 V6 engine that runs very good, however recently, very quickly it developed a sound under the valve covers that sounds like loose tappets. Like it needs a valve adjustment. It never made any noise before and I came to a stop when I got to where I was going and it was rattling not knocking like a connecting rod but rattling like flat lifters or valves that need adjusted. My question is, is the valve train adjustable on the 1997 2.7L V6 or no. I have been told by some that No the valves cannot be adjusted and yet by others that indeed they can be. Maybe someone can help me! Also is this particular problem somewhat common with these 2.7s? If it is a bad designed motor how hard is it to swap to the newer 1998 and up 3.0L would my transmission bolt to that motor would that motor bolt into the engine bay? Thanks! HJM
