2002 4cyl, Looking for info.
 

Hey guys. Just picked up this Accord a few days ago. Its a 4cyl with 80k miles. Its in minty condition. Ive owned a few cars before that i've modded and played with but I'm mainly looking to keep this thing as minty for as long as I can. Also not really sure about the motor I have and what its capable of lol.

Looking to get an idea of things I need to maybe monitor in terms of wear or things to fix that are problems on these cars as they get older? I hear the water pumps go around 100k?

Also looking to get an idea on some good mod's. Not looking to go crazy but I've always heard the honda's from the early 2000's had a very deep aftermarket.

If you don't know that timing belt has been replaced, it's way overdue (7 yrs/105k miles). Water pump, TB tensioner assy should also be replaced.


AT's were somewhat problematic on this gen, so ATF drain/replace 3 times to replace most of old fluid. Use Honda DW1 ATF.


Spark plugs could be checked and replaced if excessive gaps or dirty.

Also I can't seem to find much about a full header back exhaust for this car. No numbers or reviews. Anyone have any suggestions? Considering do a a header back exhaust. Thanks.
