92 2DR ACCORD Signing in!

Hey everyone, asl is 19 male Canada. I just picked up a 92 2DR manual in pretty good condition. Still learning about the car really, I wanna kno it like the back of my hand when i'm done with it. I'll be doing fiberglass work on the dash and console, hopefully within the next few months, before winter!

Engine mods, i'm not worried about too much. Unless prolonging it's life is intailed. I'm more into design and quality, then performance. Any ideas on mods to extend engine life? Including high grade gas?

EDIT: Car has 230,000 kms on it. Not bad for a 92 right?!

Welcome!

Engine life would be best by keeping up on maintenance, with basically stock stuff. Your engine will be happiest on Regular gas, unless you do some real modifications.

145k miles is far from the highest miles I've heard of for a 92. It can last much longer than that, if you stay ahead of corrosion.

Well its just coming out of the shop today! Ignition coil was doneeee. Kepts stalling warm, on highway, or just running regularly.

What could have been done to test this part? any electrical testing or is this a visual. I dont have my haynes manual with me atm, else i'd just check in there!

I always thought some aftermarket parts would help reduce stress on the engine? Is this false? I should prolly read through all the stickies soon... lol.

OH and another quickie, how likely is it that i'll be able to use civic parts? Are they often interchangable? (obviously some things aren't, but what generally are?)

You can measure resistance across the primary & secondary of the coil; a repair manual would list the correct values.

You also check for spark leakage from coil (& ditributor cap & wires) by watching for arcing in the dark.

"Aftermarket" parts are anything that isn't sold from a Honda dealer. Gotta judge each case for whether it reduces stress, increases stress, or just substitutes for a factory part. They're all different.

I'd guess very few parts interchange from a Civic. Maybe ignitors & spark plugs?
Wheel nuts?
Beginning something like 2006 the wheel bolting patterns are the same, but the stock sizes & widths are different.
