Downshifting my Honda Accord

Hi, I just bought a Certified Preowned 2008 Honda Accord LX-P.

My question is regarding the acceleration of my car. It is a 5 speed automatic with D, D3, 2 and 1. I was wondering whether it is faster if lets say I downshift to gear 1 while stationary, and from there, I floor the pedal without releasing at all and shift my way up to D at the appropiate RPMs compared to just flooring the pedal starting from D. Which one will hit 60mph faster?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

But I always hear people saying that lower gears give you more power. So won't it allow me to accelerate faster?

One thing that it can do for you for sure is to help you ruin your transmission much faster..

yes lower gears apply power to the ground faster. But you manually switching gears like that will wear out your trans like Angelo said...if you want to "race" your accord just go with a 5speed accord or do a 5 speed swap. You will blow through trans I learned the hard way when I 1started driving a long time ago. It's ok to down shift every now and again if it's REALLY needed but all the time will kill your trans..it will also stretch your shift cable out after a while too.
