So have you taken your Honda to a certified wrench who knows what he's doing to see if you can have it fixed up. ?

I think any 13 year old car is going to have some serious problems.

What's the mileage and what are some of the problems? Was the car maintained previously? Previously wrecked?

I own a 96 and impressed with the engineering behind this 17 year old car.

I have to say, I own a similar 2001 model (mine is an EX so it has a few extra goodies), and the car is a model of reliability. I'm thinking your issues may be related to how the car was maintained by its previous owner(s).

I've got a 1998 LX V6 coupe and it had a few issues that were EASY to fix and it runs great now. What issues are you having? They are more than likely simple fixes as any 13 year old used car will more than likely need some kind of maintenance.

To all... I'm just totally frustrated... been one thing after another. no brakes lights and so far no easy fix for that... transmission problems... rough shift or jumping gears... and now engine sputters and backfires... oh and as of today... hood wont close. Also it was sold to me as a v6... even says it on the title, however, its a 4 cylinder 2.3 vtec.

I had brake light issues with mine when I first got it. I only had to change the brake light switch at the pedal and was good to go there. As far as the sputters and backfires, have you had the chance to get any of the codes read? I had a similar issue on a different model vehicle and it turned out to be nothing but a throttle position sensor. The issue even went as far as causing a fire in the throttle body. I hope this helps restore SOME of your faith in your accord.

Who sold you a 4cyl Accord as a V6? A dealer? That's very suspicious. I wonder what other illegal things they have done. Maybe the car started out as a V6, but they replaced the motor with a high mileage 4cyl. engine? I 'd be very skeptical of this car. Did you run a Carfax on it before you purchased it?
