Hey what's going on, just joined.

Hey,
My name is Mark aka EMEX. I have a '97 accord lx coupe with a stick shift. Purchased the car used in October of 2005. Already invested over a grand into the car. Since the car is from east coast and has a lot of rust on main componenets, I'm slowly starting to replace what is more important.
So far my mods include: brand new clutch, flywheel, & bearing, new master clutch cylinder, tokico hp shocks and springs, front strut bar, shor ram AEM intake, Pacesetter (Monza motorworks) catback exhaust, McCullah 6000k Hid kit, black corner lights, black turn signal lights, eyelids, mb quart components, autobahn deck, racing hart t6 rims, racing seat covers (temp solution untill I put bucket seats in the car), changed head gasket cover (to black), new bosch spark plugs. And some basic stuff like new bushings, outer cv boots, full synthetic oil and bosch oil filter.

My stock exhaust system was pretty corroted, so it rattled in some areas and crackled as well. The new catback is 2 1/2 inch piping. Also my head gasket was coroted (silver color), so I had the chance resently to take the black one of the dead accord engine and get it replaced.

For the short run, I still need to tint the windows, do a big break kit in the front, changed the seats to bucket seats, paint my interior panels and change my gages, get sway bars and rear strut bar, short shifter, new shifter boot and a shift knob.

This is my first project car where I'm going all out.

what's wrong with using bosch spark plugs? they work fine and i had them in for about 2k now? and what would you suggest using for more performance?

hey yea only use ngk plugs in your honda, bosch plugs....because of their higher resistance, are well known to blow out your coil. you actually prolly lost horepower by putting them in too. if you want the best, get the ngk r or the iridium. also as a side note...the ngk's are very popular so in AZ we have a hard time stocking them, the nippon denso plugs would work in a pinch.

Some of the guys at the dealership I worked at were against using Bosch also. But I ran them in my Prelude for 50,000 mi. with no problems. So I replaced the ones in my Accord with Bosch Platinums also. We will see if anything happens.

yea i personally blew out the coil in my car because i used bosch plugs, my coil blew out 3 days after putting them in. its the only time my car has actually left me stranded in 250 thousand miles. the ngks are like 2 dollars a peice. its just worth it.
