What do you think of the Civic?

We are considering the Civic and wondering what you think of it so far?
We have read about concerns with the complicated screen, collision mitigation being over sensitive and the noise of the CVT.
I was dealing on one a month ago but the dealer would only discount $1000.00 off the MSLP and the manufacturers .9% financing. :(

Can't speak to the civic but in the Pilot we have we have not had "major" issue the CMBS. Yea it gets confused a bit at time but nothing major - two lane, curved roads and on coming traffic....at the same time at night once "it" saw a deer before I did :).

Thank you for your thought poorman212
I have read a lot about the collision mitigation system being too sensitive in most evaluations I've read. So much so that people often turn it off.
I like the way the lane departure system works and the blind side view on the screen. I was told by a sales person the 2018 model will discontinue the view on the screen and change to beeps or a light in the mirror.

Mrs. GM3 has a 2017 Civic Sport Touring Hatchback and she loves it. The Automatic Cruise Control is a neat trick and I wish I had it on my 2017 Accord EX-L. The Lane Departure is interesting however can get confused with off ramps and lack of painted lines. The Walk Away Lock feature is cool when I thought I wouldn't like it. Not having driver memory sucks. Brake Hold has it's uses. The CVT is fine since I have had 3 other Hondas with it. The automatic wipers and high beams are something I don't care for, but will get better with time/generations. I prefer the sound system in my Accord. The turbo is cool, but lag is an issue off of the line. Passing is better than my 4 cylinder Accord (a lack of 500 pounds helps). I get better gas mileage in the Accord though.

Thank you for the information gomarlins3.
I have been reading a lot of reports and as with most new models 2016 had many complaints and 2017 still had quite a few. Most seem to be electronics.
I think I will hold off until they get the issues resolved. I joined 3 Honda Forums and have learned a lot.
Glad your 2017 has been working out well for you.

From what I am reading from our Civic reporters they the 2018 models are exceptionally good. Basically Civic Si is good enough and most people don't need the Type R. Here are several reviews you can read www (dot)torquenews (dot) com/honda-civic
