Electric Turbo?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...460&rd=1,1

I'm considering to get this, since I don't plan on adjusting my engine for a real turbo (too much money and hassle). What do you guys think of it? I think 3psi of boost is pretty damn good for an electric turbo which doesn't need an entire turbo kit. I can install a switch to turn the turbo fan on and off so that the turbo isn't on when my car is idling (not good for the engine in the future).

The only trouble I think I'll find is getting it to fit in my car. Anyone else have this?

i would trust those about as much as any other, it shouldnt really depend on which car you have that would make it generate 2 to 3 psi. It should generate 2 to 3 psi based on the current/voltage going to the unit.

The only effective ones i know about arent cost effective.

heard of it but never seen it in action....for the price, i would try it... seems effective. a turbo would give u about 80-100whp and that gives u about 25hp.. it's a very decent amount for the price!

I heard they actually decrease power, because at medium-high rpms they cant keep up with the amount of air needed

BlkCurrantCort,

What is a POS that means it's a waste of money?

Live2ride,

Where did you hear or read that fact?

I wouldn't waste my money on this. But hey...it's your choice.
I seriously doubt anything that only costs $60 is going to get you a 25hp increase.

RE: Electric Turbo?

it creates a restriction because of the fact that there is more stuff in the way, ie the fan itself is making a 2.5inch+ inlet into less then an inch at any given moment, on top of that superchangers electric or not arent as efficient unless you have them right on top of the intake side of the head. Hence why you see most superchargers as the intake manifold.
Dont expect a fan the size of your fist to give you extra hp, cause if it could everyone and their pet monkey would have one in their car. About the only fan that will give you extra hp is an industrial high flow fan, but good luck mounting that to your intake..... and its also not cost effective or practical
The only good electric superchargers are not cost effective

RE: Electric Turbo?

after some research, that thing sucks!!!! it restricts air flow and it only gives u about 5-7hp. and i doubt it's that thing that gives u the hp, it must be the fact that u have and intake that gives u that extra hp!!!! forget about what i said first... that thing does not work... i still think u should go 4 a turbo u know...
