Installing a turbo on a 2003 Accord EX.

I have a 2003 Accord EX model coupe (automatic) with just under 50k miles on it, now my friend works for a mechanics shop/junk yard (It's more of a secondhand style yard for parts) and he brought up trying to see if we could put a turbo on my car. The parts themselves would be the most expensive parts with some minor welding/modding and some aftermarket headers and such but I'm curious if my tranny could handle it? We're not planning on going crazy with it maybe 6-8 psi, we'll be doing the work ourselves so the labor costs are going to be minimal, and his boss is saying to just do it and see what happens. I think they're insane but I'm interested too see what y'all think.

Assumption, you're talking about a 4-Cylinder Accord. Regardless, pretty fair bet the tranny wouldn't last much beyond 10,000 miles with that kind of boost. The prevailing wisdom is don't bother with a turbo on an Accord of that vintage unless it has a manual transmission.

Yup! Sorry it is a 4 cylinder and alrighty, damn. Thanks!

I suspect it should be pretty easy to find a similar vintage Accord with a manual transmission; if you want a project car, that's a pretty good starting point.
