Anyone ever hear anything about Thailand?
My English professor was explaining, to me, about his plans to move to Thailand (Again, because he lived there for a year already.) He says that $500 US currency can last you a year there. Democratic government. Very nice people. Clean air. Cars are cheaper than they are here (Unless you're trying to buy an American car.) $5,000 for one year would make two people pretty wealthy over there. Like... Not only would you be financially ahead, but you'd be on TOP.
Apparently, a lot of American companies start their business over there and then move here because it's cheaper to start there and if gives them a good foundation.
Also, a lot of moderately wealthy Americans retire there because of how easy it is to live.
I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap to get there and back, but other than that...

I did some more research. Apparently $500 can last you a year over there, but not comfortably. You'd have to bring a lot with you, and you'd have to live in the country.
If you wanted to live in a capitol city, the cheapest would be $10 per person.
If you want a nice apartment with 2+ bedrooms, it's $400 a month.
Food is very cheap. They use cell phones there, and landlines have almost vanished.
Electricity is pretty cheap, although the prices have been going up over the years.
It looks like a pretty place to visit. I wouldn't for a month without $1000 a person, though. Just to be safe. And that's not including a plane ticket back.
