So yeah... Got my hands on an '84 Jeep Wrangler the other day... FREE!!! This thing is so awesome... It has to be the baddest Four-banger i have ever heard... it sound like a big block chevy V8... Gonna post pics soon!

 

Free? O_O? any mechanical/engine problems...interior flaws? exterior rust?

Okay... not a wrangler... its a scrambler. but any way, some rust (was used mostly for FISHING! BOOO) but it runs like a champ. And OMG! this four banger is a MONSTER. and sorry sleeper, can't make it to tenn. anytime soon but if i ever do, i'll let you know. and i took it mudding today and it was so much fun. too bad it trespassing in my town. I'll get some pics up for you guys to see soon.

 

A scrambler is even better! I've never seen a scrambler with a 4 cylinder though, is it a 151?

 

Well, my buddy worked for a chrysler dealer as a tech for like four years. he said they are both cj7's just different "names," but it has a 150 L4. Yeah i'm thinking thats about half of a small chevy small block, and about half the weight of a camaro so it evens out. I might just try swapping a 305 or a 350 into it to make it that much better. doing that might fix the only mechanical problem it has. for some reason, i cant find 2H and it doesn't like to go into 4L, and unless its in 4H, it won't move. But it was free. and btw, those rockclimbing pics are awesome...

 

They started using the term "Wrangler" in 1987. Scrambler refers to the long wheelbase version of the CJ-7 that was known as the CJ-8. As far as the transfer case goes, those things were always hard to shift.
