EGR valve for an 01 accord.
I'm looking for an EGR valve for an 2001 Honda accord 1.9 vtec. They are outrageously expensive over here in England. So trying the forums to find better prices. Thanks.

What is problem w/ valve? They seem to rarely fail, and usually EGR codes are caused by blockage of passages from EGR to intake manifold. Cleanout of these passages can fix EGR P0401.
If EGR valve is sticking, clean pintle by blocking one side and filling from other w/ a good throttle body cleaner or better carb dip cleaner. Deposits are very hard. If your valve is non-functional, check ebay for a replacement. good luck |
It drives fine. But on occasion when getting out of gear to make a stop the RPMs will drop all the way down to zero and sometimes the engine will die. It's starts right back up fine. I did down load a P0401 code. I did remove the valve and cleaned it with a carb cleaner and scrapped out most of the junk. The problem only happens spuraticly that's why I believe it's more of an valve not working. I haven't gotten too deep into taking off the injectors to remove the plate to clean in the manafold yet. Seems too complicated. Any other ideas?

New EGR valve may not fix, but worth a shot since EGR gas is probably leaning causing idle depression and engine stoppage.
If this is a vacuum-actuated EGR valve, you may want to check whether vacuum switching solenoid is sticking open occasionally causing EG to be delivered at iidle. good luck |
I've been look at parting out classifieds and posts for the valve. I will try the vacum solenoid.
