LOUD Squealing after belt changed
Hi, please, can someone help me?? I have a '90 Accord wagon.
After I got the accelerator belts changed I got this horrible squealing noise mostly when: I start the car, when it is colder and wetter out, when braking, and on turns. Spraying belt lube seems to help a little, but doesn't last. I tried to get the tension adjusted. When tightened, it helped for about 2 hours (just enough time for me to leave the shop), and then it started again. Is it serious and what could I do? |
RE: LOUD Squealing after belt changed
Your tensioner spring is probably shot. Look at it while the car is running and see if its jumping around.

RE: LOUD Squealing after belt changed
Tensioner spring? I don't think it's the timing belt. More like A/C, alternator and power steering belts... Tension should be adjusted to be tighter. Future note, belt squeal stop is really only a temporary fix and will shorten the belts life (it's eats away at the rubber)
