Rear view mirror rattling
Hey I noticed that my rear view mirror started making a loud rattle recently and was wondering if any of you have had similar problems or if you know of something that will stop it from rattling. It only rattles under heavy bass. Thanks.

RE: Rear view mirror rattling
my mirror rattles sometimes when im driving. no sound coming from it tho. Im too lazy to figure out whats wrong with it, though. Try taking it off and looking for loose screws. My passenger side mirror was rattling awile ago and I fixed that by taking off that little black cover and tighting some bolts.

How much "heavy bass" are we talking about??? If you have 2000W RMS and a pair of high power 12's then you're going to have to hot glue it ..... not a great idea if others use your car. Like mentioned, look for screws to tighten. There is a set screw that you can loosen so that it slides up and off of the puck that is glued to the glass.

Jeez, in my car, just accelerating causes my rear view mirror, sunvisor extenders, cabin light, and sunglass holder to rattle. I stuck a dime in the light to stop its rattling but other than that i've learned to ignore it. lol. ;)

You can try putty. If it moves out of place on the beat, then stick some putty in joint between the support and the mirror.
I had an old 90 Civic that used to vibrate out of place; 148db's is never good on cars ;).My customers seem not to care about how much stuff shakes in the car after I'm done. My pathfinder flexes the rear doors a good half inch, so you could imagine my mirrors. |
