anyone here ever have to rebuild their struts for their coilovers?

im thinking about getting some tein basic coilovers soon, but im worried....
cause once the shocks blow out, then they're going to have to be rebuilt
i heard that i have to send them to tein and wait for them to rebuild it, which may take weeks...

anyone here have to rebuild their coilovers yet? or have any knowledge?

I would guess it would take a while for them to "blow out" as you put it. Just save your factory struts/shocks for use when/if this happens...

I've had Tein SS coilovers on for 3 years and haven't had any issues. I keep them on 10 & 8 (track settings) and push them whenever I'm in the mood. If they did blow out, I'd probably talk to Tein to see if I can buy re-built ones and send in mine for a core refund ...... might be the same price, or close. That way, you only have a single job for the replacement.

it really seems a hassle to me though
which is why shocks+springs seem easier, i can just buy new shocks when they blow out

but i rather have tein coilovers!

will you be tracking the car weekly that you are so concerned about killing them? the Teins are very well made.

not weekly, but occasionally.
and even though they're well made, they will eventually blow out, just like any other shocks of a car.
everyone with coilovers is going to have to face this problem eventually

that sounds like a good idea, i will find out from tein if that is possible...
this is something that really concerns me

So how is this any different than non-coilovers??? Either way, you have to remove the assembly to change the damper. I don't see why you think there is any difference between rebuilding a Tein SS damper or a Koni Yellow. In 3 years, I have not had any problems ..... I'm about 1.0 g's in handling (granted I don't race the 3G)

well, if i had shocks+springs and the shocks blew out, i would be able to buy a new set online and replace them at the shop in the same day.
if i had to send the tein coilovers back to tein, then i wont be able to drive my car for a few days/few weeks and i would have to have it reinstalled a few times. remova of the old ones. then installation of the new ones on a separate day.

unless i bought a rebuilt set, like what you said

either way, you need the replacement parts in hand ..... I know that Tein will sell them to you.

That's why I said keep your factory struts/shocks/springs for backup. No offense but I think youre blowing this totally out of proportion. If Tien coilovers "blew out" as soon as you are thinkingthey will, nobody would buy them... Just relax and trust the namebrand bro.
