To grease or not to grease?
I am preparing to replace more bushings in the rear suspension of my 1996 Accord EX sedan, am looking at the CD7 manual and noting all of the places in the suspension where silicone grease is and is not indicated.
I can understand greasing the slipping rubber bushings such as the front sway bar link ends, but am wondering why some of the non-slip bushings also have grease indicated for them? Specifically the rear lower shock mount bushings and the rear lower control arm bushings. These bushing press fit into their containing arm/knuckle, the attaching bolt is tightened firm around the inner collar, and the rubber twists with suspension travel. So what am I supposed to be greasing? Just the face of the rubber?
I also wonder why some slip bushings such as the sway bar mounts do not have grease indicated for them?
