2008 Honda Accord Rims

Hey everyone,

I'm considering purchasing aftermarket rims for my 08 Accord. Several sites that I looked at recommend the tire pressure monitoring system kits for the aftermarket rims. Are these worth purchasing or should I hold out and just get my TPMS light disabled? Let me know what you think. Thanks

I forgot to add that I have the LX-P version with stock 16" Alloys.

You spent how much on the car and you're looking to ignore a safety feature to save a couple hundred bucks? Get the TPMS for the aftermarket rims.

Oh, and you might want to put your yr and model in your signature. it helps when addressing problems.

Have you guys looked at the new accord rims? The LX-P version has 16 x 6.5 and the EX-Ls have 17 X 7.5. I want to get aftermarket rims that are flushed with the fender or at the most 1/2" from the fenders. What wheel width do you recommend? Thanks

Why don't you try the OEM Honda Accessory wheels? They are 19 x 8.

I was looking into the Honda rims but some of the places online say it wont fit my model. Another thing is cost of the rims, the sites that sell the honda rims are asking 300+ per rim only whereas tire rack offers an assortment of rims priced from 200 - 300 bucks. I'm still looking around. Thanks for your response.

You could also look at some quality rims instead of those low cost models that your looking at..you buy a quality car ...then you put on Quality Wheels to keep the Quality Look...
Example of Quality Wheel ;)

No, No,No, No...you can't disable that TPMS...
some of those TPMsensors cost up wards of $200 each...they are there for a purpose..even if you have your tires rotated...they have to be reset by your tire shop..This is the cost of buying New Cars...always a problem...

Can TPMS be transfered from one set to another? I have the TPMS on my tc, but the previous owner apparently was really good at getting VERY close to the curb when parallel parking. All of the rims' lips are chapped!!!! I've considered the TRD rims, but I like some others more ..... can you say Momo?

I'm trying to put those same 19" HFP on my 08 Sedan. I was told they would fit with the 245/40/19 tires.

OH! I was looking all over the web for someone who has already installed the HONDA 19" HFP PDS-10 ALLOY WHEELS on the '08 sedan! I actually joined this forum for this issue!! Every website I have checked notes out that these wheels are to be installed on the '08 Coupe ONLY!!!! I think it has to do with the suspension system and the tire width - 245!!! Any ideas???

I really like the MOMO 19" STIRKE WHEELS as well ;)

Here is a pic of the HFP 19x8 with 245/40/19 T1R's. I just put them on today. I still need to find some coilovers as soon as they become available.

Peace

WOW!!! THAT'S AWESOME!!!! They look REALLY nice, CONGRATS!

But I have more questions for you:

1- How much did you pay for them and if you bought them online can you please send me the website of both rims and tires?
2- What tire brand did you install? and in which performance category? I really like the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season Tires but they only come in 245/35ZR19 or 245/45ZR19!!!
Do you think they would fit or 35 is too low or 45 is too high?
3- Did you install them at the dealership because of the TPMS or somewhere else? Have you used the sensors that already came with the car or you purchased new ones?
4- You have mentioned something about some coilovers!!
I don't really get it; do you still have to install other stuff in order to maintain the same performance or it's just for enhancing it?
I am really new to HONDAs and the after market rims world, so I would really appreciate it if you can help me out here.

Thanks and enjoy the 19"ers ;)

Nomad:

1- How much did you pay for them and if you bought them online can you please send me the website of both rims and tires?
I got the rim locally in So Cal. I think a guy on this thread said he priced them at $300/ea. Look for his post. I also got the tires locally for about $230/ea (incl mounting and Bal)

2- What tire brand did you install? and in which performance category? I really like the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season Tires but they only come in 245/35ZR19 or 245/45ZR19!!!
The tires at Toyo Proxies T1R. They have a ZR rating too. They are Ultra performace tires for sedans and coupes.

Do you think they would fit or 35 is too low or 45 is too high?
35's is your best bet but the ride will be firmer due to the low side wall height, 45's will be too tall (7% over oem). Use this link to help you determine your tire size. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

3- Did you install them at the dealership because of the TPMS or somewhere else? Have you used the sensors that already came with the car or you purchased new ones?
I had them mounted at a local tire shop that can handle painted and plus series rims (a speed shop). I bought the factory TPMS sensors that are listed for these rims.

4- You have mentioned something about some coilovers!!
I don't really get it; do you still have to install other stuff in order to maintain the same performance or it's just for enhancing it?
These tires are a little taller than the OEM specs so the coilovers will allow me to adjust the cars' ride height with minimal impact to the quality of the ride. I think the car needs to be dropped about 1" to look right again. I called my supplier and he said that he has not seen any 08 coilovers, so I need to wait until they come out with some. Honda does not sell a suspension kit for this car but I think some of the Acura sway bars, etc are interchangeable with the Honda line.

AHM had various reason for not incl. this 19" rim as an option for the sedan but they were made to fit both Accord coupe and sedans as you can see. No rubbing at all.

Good Luck!!!

Hey Smag...where you been hiding out at?:D

hc529 11-07-2009 10:21 PM

I know someone with the 08 accord with 20x10.5 +45 (and he cleared the back fender) and 20x9 +35 in the front.

And Not to hijack the thread
which tpms should i buy? from honda or is it okay to go with ebay/other tpms?

WheelBrokerAng 11-13-2009 01:50 AM

Any TPMS is okay, but you have to have a scanner for the type your buying..there's quite a few kinds out there...:)
