Want to upgrade the 16" wheels to 18"
What is the proper with of wheel and tire fitment that will not rub. Also do not want to run ultra low profile. Don't want to decrease ride comfort |
Changing from 16" to 18" wouldn't be an "upgrade" in ride comfort.
Stock tire is 215/60 R16 Changing to 18" and maintaining the tread diameter gives you 235/45 R18. TireRack lists a whole ton of 18" wheels, mostly 18x8 with offsets from 42 to 50. Most people would call that a low-profile tire (maybe not "ultra"), with corresponding decrease in ride comfort. I've got 235/45 on my car, and they're not too harsh for me, but you specifically mention ride comfort. What's your motivation for changing to 18"? |

Lots of stuff there with correct bolt pattern but correct fitment is not known. |
I would buy wheels locally if possible. That said I bought wheels for the Corvair from Summit Racing. Lots of selection and help is a phone call away.
I went from 13 to 15 inch wheels. There was a very noticeable loss of ride quality. Be aware the ride won't be as smooth. Steering will improve a bit. |
OK, comparing against the M3 I can see your point.
235/45 has about 28% taller sidewall vs. 275/30. Plus some of the harshness in the M3 comes from its springs, and it probably has run-flat tires. I've bought a lot of stuff from TireRack & trust their fit information. Summit Racing is nice, they're also local for me, but I haven't bought wheels & tires from them. With Ebay you never know... |
Just pulled the trigger on RPM 505 wheels 18x8
with Hankook Ventus 2354518 tires Resisted the urge to do staggered setup The M will have to be the hotrod this is a DD, comfort and mileage then looks were key in decision I'll post a pic when they come in Think its going to look good on the black sedan with blacked out glass I'm also going to paint all the chrome trim flat black |
