okay so i had a blizzard happen and my tires are **** i am so thank full of my ABS that i didn't die what are some good tires i can use in the winter any thoughts?

i am driving a 2006 accord EX, i know my tires are allseasons but apearently they are not up to par.

1st thing to check is the tire treads themselves..are they worn out.?
2nd thing to check is the sidewall sizes of the tires..are they all the same.?
3rd thing to check is the tire placard on one of your car doors to see if they are the right size.

Cars have been coming with wider & wider tires, which is the wrong direction for snow. Consider a set of winter tires on their own rims. What size are your tires now?

Just got a couple sets of new tires on the Saabs, here's my thoughts. They're both 9.3 FWD which is kinda sorta the same size as a new-ish Accord.

Conti ExtremeContact on my car, 235/45-17. I use winter tires so didn't buy them for "4-season". First snow, they absolutely did NOT suck as bad as I expected. Snow tires are installed so I really don't know how they are in deep snow.

Conti Pure-Contact on my wife's car, 215/55-16. She doesn't want to swap to winter tires, & these actually work pretty well in the snow. They're new, so I really have no idea how they'll handle snow as they wear out.

I've used Michelin X-Ice tires on a couple of cars now and they rock in the deep snow and in icy/slick surfaces. As has been recommended, you might want to buy a dedicated set of wheels and tires, if you do, typically you drop a width and rim size in the process.
