Big Brake Kit

Okay, another question for the masses. I have seen two ways to go, one is the multi-thousand dollar set up with bigger rotors, new huge multi piston calipers, and new braided lines. I have also seen the bolt on bracket that moves your existing caliper further out and useds a larger rotor that only cost between 300-500 smackers. The benefits of the multi piston calipers and bigger rotors are obvious. However, I was wondering if the other style, the one that will let me NOT spend $1700, is any good, I know the rotor is bigger helping out with ventilation and heat dispersion, but it uses the same size pads. Who has an idea?

RE: Big Brake Kit

By moving the caliper further from the center of the axle, the amount of torque the calpier can apply to counteract the movement of the wheel is increased but a small amount. So yes it will provide you better braking vs. an entirely stock setup, but not nearly as much as a complete system. Since the cheaper route utlizes the stock caliper, which is usually one piston, the benefit provided by moving the caliper out is somewhat mitigated by the lower clamping force of the stock caliper and pads.

RE: Big Brake Kit

I am looking into getting the big brake upgrade for my car, because trying to stop this thing with 20's is a pain in the rear! The problem is that I haven't found a company that makes them for an '06 yet!!!!
