Question about '03 Accord Sedan

Would 225/50/R17 fit? The stock tires are 205/65/R15. My car is not lowered in any way, shape or form...so more tire space?

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

those should fit providing you have a rim that is offset enough to keep it from rubbing on the inside when you turn.... I'd go to like www.1010tires.com and check out their plus sizing chart to determine what would be the best 17 to run, try to keep your outside diameter the same

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

Seems I can do 235/40/R18

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

keep in mind that bigger rims= more weight so you're going to drop some fuel economy and performance unless you can maintain a weight close to what you already have...

Crud...I was hoping I did not have to change my rims.

Confound it all.

That would also reduce braking performance by going to mongo size wheels.

Would '02 Accord rims/tires fit on '03 Accord?

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

Hmmm alloy wheel(especially some of these ultra minimalist types) verses rubber and belts and tall sidewalls... I beg to differ, a GOOD wheel in a larger size with a shorter side walled tire should NOT have more mass, then a smaller wheel with MORE tire.

Can I ask... why you want a wider tire? Is it just for the stance? If that is what you are after, then fit what you can... but for handling... you really want to match the tread to the cars handling capability. You could actually handle better with a superior compound in a slightly smaller tire then a cheap componud in ANY size tire... AND even handle better then the same superior tire in 2 sizes wider. The first part you can understand... superior rubber compounds , versus cheapo rubber compounds. What is more difficult to understand is why a 2 size wider tire of a similar compound would handle worse. This is simple really, it all has to do with HEAT, superior tires tend to work better when warm. a wider tire works less hard and in so doing... may not get as warm as it's thinner version. Corrallary - they will wear faster....

The Accord is no svelt everyday jogger... the Civic fits that bill better.... So I do like your idea of going one size wider 205 to 215, I also like the 16" wheels... costs go up exponentially as rim diameter increases, and side walls fall. Using calculations from tire calculators... the closest match would be 215/55/16. Spend the extra $$ you would on a 17" tire for a better 16" tire.

jmho........

I ran a tire size search at tire rack... there are a few tires in this group that are both affordable, and superior.

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

sorry was away for a bit. I don't know what rim will fit... but Tire Rack does... besides selling tires, they also sell wheels. AND... they have a nifty wheel fitment guide that shows a side view of your car and how each of the wheels they offer fits. They will not offer a wheel that won't fit, so you can look at all their offerings. You DON'T have to buy there... although they are almost always the best price (unless you can score a set used...) but they are the best place to go first... see what you like, and then do some coparitive shopping once you know!

So concerning the wheel you posted... unless it is in the list at Tire Rack (or any other competent fiment guide), I'd just walk away.

I got the tires today(9/6/06) and will be mounting them either tonight, or tomorrow. review to follow!!!

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

You keep asking about stock tires on new rims.
Regardless of the other factors affecting fit (diameter, width, offset), you can never put a 15" tire on a 17" rim.

The stock tires can only fit a 15" rim. There's no workaround for that.

If you buy a different size rim, you must buy new tires as well.

RE: Question about '03 Accord Sedan

I'm not asking about that anymore...just telling the forum my plan now.

This thread is very old, but instead of making a new one, I decided to recycle this one.

EDIT - The wheel package includes tires...
