Quick TPMS light question
 

I have a 2010 Accord EX-L (well, when it comes back from bodyshop) that I want to install 16" steel wheels and snows all the way around without the sensors. Will it hurt anything with the light on for 3 months? Will the light reset when I go back to the summer tires? My first Honda, still learning.

1. If the low tire pressure indicator or TPMS indicator comes on, the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system automatically turns on even if the VSA system is turned off by pressing the VSA OFF switch. If this happens, you cannot turn the VSA system off by pressing the VSA OFF switch again.

In certain unusual conditions when your vehicle gets stuck in shallow mud or fresh snow, it may be easier to free it with the VSA temporarily switched off. When the VSA system is off, the traction control system is also off. You should only attempt to free your vehicle with the VSA off if you are not able to free it when the VSA is on.

So, essentially, without the ability to turn off VSA, it may be harder to get the car unstuck in mud or snow.

2. Generally, when you put the wheels with the TPMS sensors back on, it will recognize it and the light will go off.

There is a chance that the TPMS sensors in the wheels may not be active. For example, when the dealer gets the cars in, a PDI tech suppose to do Pre-Delivery inspection (PDI); one of the items is to make sure the TPMS are operational (active). They would turn the ignition to LOCK (0), then lower the tire pressure in one of the tires to 18 psi or less. Then refill the tire to the recommended tire pressure. They would then repeat for each of the other tires.
