Soo, Wheels and tires.

I just became an owner of a beautiful, white 2001 Honda Accord today and I had some questions about Wheel's and tires for starters.

It's the LX model, 4 door Sedan with a v6. I went outside and looked at the tire size and it was 205/65/R15.

But when I measured with the tape measure from lip to it was 16.5

I'm in dire need of new tires, and was looking at these.. BRIDGESTONEŽ Potenza G019 Grid Tires | All Season Performance Tire for Cars

would these be a good choice, and would it be okay to go from 205/65R15 to 195/65R15? and with that being done, what's the appropriate wheel size? It threw me off reading R15 but measuring it and getting 16.5 from lip to lip.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Your wheel size is in fact 15"; the diameter is measured at the inner point where the bead of the tire rests in the rim.

I have the same basic car as you (a 2001 EX V6) with the same tires, and if anything, I think the 205/65 R15s are rather sloppy, dropping down to a 195 section width tire would be even worse (FWIW, if you really wanted to drop to 195s, you'd want to use 195/70 R15 tires). Long story short, if you're going to stick with the 15" wheels stay with the 205/65 R15 tires.

For my part, I'm looking for a set of nice used Honda (or Acura) 16" or maybe even 17" wheels and if/when I find them the tire size I'll go with will be 205/60 R16 or 215/50 R17 respectively.

As a side comment, I'm not personally a fan of Bridgestone tires; I prefer Michelin instead.
