Are these tires gonna hurt my Accord 2002 SE?
Hi everyone!
I'm a new member & very glad that I found this forum. I've just bought an used 4-door Accord 2002 SE 2.3L L4 SOHC 16V. This is also my first car thus I'm pretty a newbie in terms of car knowledge. As far as I get from the user manual, the P195/65R15 tires should be used for my car. However, the previous owner recently bought the 205/65R15 FEDERAL SS-657 95H tires. These tires are indicated NOT compatible with my car on Amazon. Are these tires gonna hurt my Accord 2002 SE? Btw, I had my car inspected at an auto garage near my place. Everything was fine except the front brakes have only 15% left & the battery voltage is about 12.48V. They recommended me to replace the battery for about $149 & the front brakes for also $149. Is the price reasonable? Any suggestion/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
That tire size shouldn't be a problem. Just a few mm larger in diameter and in width, but others have used tires of that size.
Your speedometer will read a few % lower, so you're actually going a bit faster than you think. Just in case you see many speed traps at the north pole...? Seems like $149 is a bit high for a new battery. They are easy to install yourself & some AutoZone-type places will install them for you. Front brakes $149 is probably more reasonable, for pads & rotors. That's also a more difficult job if you want to do it yourself. Are you thinking about that?? |
Those tires will be perfectly fine. The standard size is 195/65/15. Its just a bit wider, and larger in diameter, but not by much at all.

Thanks a lot everyone for your inputs. Strangely enough when I went to amazon, input my car spec, it told me the tires were not suitable for my car
|
Amazon says that because it's not EXACTLY the same tire-size supplied by the factory. They don't want to set up for any liability by saying "it's close enough so it will work OK".

i've used 205/65R15 on the car before with no issues. I went with Bridgestone tires - asymmetric all-season Turanza or Serenity (stiffer side wall for improved cornering).

That gen. Accord 4-cyl comes stock with 195/65-R15 tires.
But the V-6 car comes stock with 205/65-R15 tires. |
Thanks everyone for sharing! Mine is running fine as well

Wait a minute... Amazon is in California, right? That's where shops are not allowed to read ECU error codes to enable you to repair your own car?
