Tire Size Suggestions? 96 Accord EX

I have the 15 inch, factory alloys with 195/60/R15 tires. What is the widest size tire I can mount on the factory rims? I need new tires soon and Im considering getting tires that are a bit wider without changing rims.

Any ideas of Infos is appreciated.

:)

I think your wheels are 15 x 5.5" but you can check. It's normally embossed in the inside of the wheel somewhere. Look on the inboard side of one of the spokes.

Go to Tire Rack & pick a tire you like. Look at the specs for the size you're thinking of; one item will be the range of wheel-width that's acceptable.

Ok Thanks!!I was sort of hoping someone already did this and had the exact size, but for sure will check the site out and make some notes.

The 205/50/R15 looks promising.Wonder if it would rub too much?

So that should be 10mm wider than your stock tires (5mm inboard & 5mm outboard). Seems like that would be OK for clearance, but take a look. Especially check where the steering knuckle curves up & around the inboard sidewall of the tire & joins the upper control arm.

But that's also 29 mm smaller in overall diameter. Maybe try other sizes?
205/55 = 8.5mm shorter; I guess I'd look at this size.
205/60 = 12mm taller

Thanks..I'm going to have them set side by side at the tire place to compare.I may go 55 or 60.

Compare side-by-side against other tires that are not mounted on rims, not against your existing tires. Mounting and inflating will affect that a little bit. Also the worn-out tread on your tires will affect it too.
