Yokohama Avid h4s vs v4s

what is the difference between the yokohama h4s & v4s? looking for a (single) tire for my 2005 v6 accord (auto, 16in) to replace one that i got a flat in today.

which would you guys recommend?

Single tire? I'd recommend getting one that's an absolute EXACT match across opposite ends of the same axle. Or buy 2 new tires because the other one will have some treadwear.

thank you, but i'm aware that any tread weardifference is minimal. so minimal that if i got a new exact tire as the ones i currently have, the tread wear between the new (exact) and the old (exact) models will still wear differently. so its doesn't matter to me, i was just wondering the difference between the 2 models

Belt construction is probably a bit different due to the speed rating. Rubber compound might be different too, resulting in the tire wearing down at a much different rate.

Is the flat not repairable?
If there is a hole in the tire you can have it patched for dirt cheap. As long as the hole is not in the side wall...

Maybe he went and had it repaired Jon like you suggested..they always want something they arent going to buy anyways :)

nah guys i ended up getting the v4s from discount tire direct + their $12 replacement guarantee (u guys think this is a scam?)

the puncture i got was in my sidewall and was made by a foot long thick branch

JimBlake 11-23-2009 08:38 AM

Poked a hole in the sidewall, that would not have been repairable.

So for $12 you got road-hazard replacement? It's not a scam, really; it's just kinda like an insurance policy. Over many years, I've had to repair/replace so few tires that I usually decline that. Still, that's over the long haul, and I have to be financially capable of replacing a tire (or a set) at any unpredictable time. If you don't carry enough money in the bank to do that, then it CAN be a good idea to get that coverage.
