97 honda accord

I was just wondering if anyone could help me locate the heater valve. I know what it looks like, but I have no idea where it's situated inside the engine bay.

Also, I may be wrong about what the problem is. Basically, there is never any hot air blowing out the vents. I believe the control knob works, because the heater was weakening as it was getting colder, and we had always maintained some control over the temperature of the blower. In my experience, this usually indicates a faulty HCV.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

On most hondas, heater valves are in the heater core. This illustration may help you - http://autorepair.about.com/library/illustrations/bl303a-lib.htm

Its in the engine bay near the firewall.  Towards the right-side of the car about mid-elevation.

Do you have a 4-cylinder or a V-6??
Do you have auto climate control??

As shown in the link, the heater valve IS NOT located inside the heater core. It is located against the fire wall in the engine compartment on the passenger side.

This problem can also be caused by simple cracked heater control knob, not actuating the stem the knob fits over. Pull knob off and check.

Also, the push/pull wire that actuates the heater core valve can become disconnected under pax side dash.

You can manually actuate the heater core valve on the engine side of firewall to see if it move easily. If yes, then one of above should fix your problem.
