1995 Accord brake pedal goes soft at idle
1995 Accord LX wagon no (ABS), 90,000 mile 4 cyn, auto. Car stops fine. No shuddering, noises etc. After a full stop and sitting in gear with my foot on the brake the pedal will go soft after about 5 seconds. If I pump the brake once it will harden up, but then soften again after another 5 seconds. Any ideas? As I said she stops just fine.
Thanks in advanced.

Seems like you are describing a failing master cylinder or air but air should not just be at a stop. With power brakes the pedal can drop a little after few seconds but not feel soft.

When the brake pedal sinks slowly & smoothly, that's pretty classic for a bad master cylinder. Sometimes pressing the pedal down hard prevents it from sinking??
The light pressure you use on the pedal after you're already stopped, is less than the pressure you generally use while moving. That might be the reason why it doesn't do that while driving.
