I've been reading this thread on and off not every word. So are there no issues if you use the system on "low" (speed) and not auto?? If you limit the speed of the fan does that help keep it working? I don't understand how the dealer can acknowledge there's an issue but can't get it paid to attempt a fix - unbelievable!!

The A/C acts up on any setting and any temp. setting. The service manager rode with me and saw that it isn't working. He says Honda won't pay to fix it without some sort of code. I don't really understand Honda's logic on his. Advertising sells the first one and service sells the second one. I'm really disappointed that they didn't fix it. 1600 Miles and I have a car I don't want to drive on the highway in the heat.

Time to explore the Lemon Laws in your state.

I think I accidentally deleted this information, so I'm typing it again. Hopefully if I already sent this, the moderators will just post this once.

It was 91 and humid today; the AC was set on "Low" and fan on "High" and the Accord never really got cool. My F-150 would have cooled off in the time I was running around.
I think there is a new symptom, and I am hoping it will mean something to someone. The car interior smelled just like when I was a kid and my mother would give the other women in the family permanents. It had a strong caustic smell, and I think I've noticed this once before. It was pretty pungent. What does 134-a smell like, or whatever this thing is running...

I've checked into the lemon laws and I need to get documentation that they are unsuccessfully trying to fix this. I guess I'll have to wait until next summer unless it goes out all together. I was a little surprised that it acted up a little today, but who knows.

So far, no trees have cooperated and fallen on it either, but I can always hope...which is terrible. I've decided that this car is a great design, but has had poor execution. I really like a lot about it, and I am still wishing a tree would just fall on it. Weird place to be in with a new car. Less than 2000 miles.

R134a has no particular smell, but PAG (lubricant) has a distinct chemical smell,...not unpleasant. Any AC technician will immediately recognize PAG smell.

good luck

You can't be unhappy with it for the next 6 years and I think (not positive) there's a time limit on the lemon law, next summer may be to late. This can happen with any car I wouldn't write of Hondas just yet. If you can afford to trade it in for another. I know that sucks and you will take a step backwards with the $$ situation but how much is losing this headache worth to you???

Hello, John

I've been following this thread with interest as I too have a '16 Accord. May I suggest that you contact Honda U.S.A. (Headquarters) Customer Service located in San Francisco. Their mailing address and contact information can be found online.

We had purchased a 2015 (new) Accord and discovered that it had issues with the tires which the dealership was reluctant to resolve... one letter to Honda U.S.A. and the matter was quickly taken care of.

I'm too lazy and busy to go back and read all the posts in this thread, but has anyone recommended the system be evacuated and recharged yet? We may be just ASSUMING a new car has a complete A/C charge in the system.

Doesn't the 2016 have the new refrigerant? I forget what it is, my 16 Pilot does not have 134a, it has the "new stuff"

The Pilot and the Civic for 2016 use the 1234YF stuff. Looks like the Accord is still using R134A for 2016.
