Default input please....

so my 93 accord ex coupe blew a head. How do I know, well I have gooey choco milk....... so I'm a little bummed....... now the question..... I love my Accord, I've had it since 40k, it now has 340k. Rebuild? Junk? I looked for a low mileage engine, so far, I'm getting you have a 'special' engine, only 90-93 have that engine, hard to find a 22 yo low mileage engine, but we happen to have them from 1k-1300......50k-60k miles.....tested 6 mo war.....is it worth it for me to rebuild? what all will have to be done??? Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I just bought a 07 Civic EX, fun little car.....ok back on track....

Assuming the block and head castings of your engine are not compromised in any way (i.e. no cracks or other damage), then rebuilding your engine is probably your best bet. That said, I don't think $1,000 to $1,300 for an engine with only fifty to sixty thousand miles isn't all that bad.

If engine (prior to blown HG) was running good w/ good gas mileage, acceleration, and not buring oil, the lower end is likely fine and rebuilding head plus new head gasket should resolve the issues.

good luck

I could get 400miles on a tank of gas...no oil burn, acceleration was fine....it ran like a champ, had leaks here and there, but at 340k, what'd you expect....

when you say rebuilding head, what's that mean?

Rebuilding the head means removing the head, and returning all parts (cams, cam followers, bearings, valve seats, valve seals, valves, milling the head, ...) back to within allowable tolerances.

A machine shop will rebuild the head for a fixed fee. Last one I had done was $250 in Houston. Rebuild insures maximum probability of good head gasket repair. It's a big job and you don't want to do twice

good luck

hmmmmm...........so maybe a new used 70K engine might be an idea? 1k-1200 plus install. I think that's what a JDM engine is running....
